What sets Lokos Tacos apart from other Mexican establishments in Augusta is its dedication to authentic flavors and ingredients. Everything was fresh and flavorful.” This speaks volumes about the restaurant’s commitment to quality, even during peak times.
Unlike many Mexican restaurants that bore patrons with expansive, yet uninspired menus, Lokos Tacos opts for a more curated selection that promises satisfying dishes. The freshness of each dish is palpable; meals are made to order, ensuring that you don’t receive your food before your thirst is quenched.

Jon C. remarks on the tantalizing taste of their salsa, saying, “The salsa was very tasty,” indicating that even the small details are not overlooked.

“ Even with a full house, Lokos Tacos delivered amazing service and incredible food. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and easily the best Mexican we've ever had in Augusta. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend! ”
“ Authentic and fresh Mexican food, for a change. Augusta might have more Mexican restaurants per capita than any place in America and they all taste the same with similar expansive menus and blandness (don't forget the doused scent of Fabuloso). However, this particular place was quite good with a limited menu. True Carnitas and not the fatty crock pot kind. Made to order so your food doesn't come out before your drinks. Didn't care too much for the chips but their salsa was good. ”
“ I git the street tacos... but I got them with flour tortillas...the flour tortillas themselves were not that good and tasted almost stale. The service was good. They also gave me an extra cup of soup, which was very much appreciated. And the soup itself is very tasty. The salsa was very tasty. Overall, I had a good experience and would go back but would probably try to order something new. ”
“ Nice little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant (they've now opened a larger full size restaurant on Boy Scout Rd). Great ambiance. Beautiful murals and decor. Excellent customer service. Wonderful food! They bring you a little bowl of noodle soup along with the usual chips and salsa as you sit. Large variety of food. Nice drink selection. Definitely will be a frequent consumer! ”
“ My grandson wanted to get Mexican food so we went to Lokos Tacos which recently opened on Boy Scout Road not too far from where we live. The building is a big improvement over their tiny former place which was in a strip mall. We were seated quickly and our waiter came quickly to get our drinks started and brought us a complimentary bowl of soup. It was tasty but a tad too salty. He also brought chips and salsa. These were very yummy so I ordered the cheese dip too. The large tv nearest to us was broadcasting a Braves game so Mom was happy. The restaurant is big with lovely murals but it is noisy. Another nearby tv was showing college basketball. The menu here is very different than your typical tex mex style place. So much so I recommend you peruse it on line before hand. Mom and I ordered the Texas rice which was chicken, steak and shrimp with vegetables on a bed of rice with cheese sauceThis turned out to be huge enough to share and we ended up taking home half our dinner. Grandson got a seafood soup that was chocked full of mussels l, shrimp, fish and octopus in a tomato based broth. It came to the table extremely hot. He declared it tasty but probably nothing he would order again. I also ordered a Texas margarita (13.99)and mom had a Corona(4.50?). Our total bill was about 80 dollars with the tip this night of eating Mexican was almost a hundred dollars! The service was outstanding and the food good but that hefty price tag makes me question if I would go there again. ”
“ This definitely is an Augusta hidden gem! All of the food was delicious, and the margarita was the size of my head! Everyone loved their meals (my favorite was the birria tacos) and everything was delivered fairly quickly as well. It is a smaller place, so I would check ahead for large parties, but everyone is super friendly! ”
“ "Diamond in the rough?" More like burrito in the strip mall. I remember my first visit wondering if this place would live up to the hype (word of mouth was already circulating!). And it did. On a whelm I return this past week, unsure of what I was in the mood for (I know, not like me). But believing that this would be the place to find it. Thankfully I came mid afternoon, as I suspect there would have been no empty tables otherwise. I had forgotten how fresh the salsa is. For some that may be a minor thing, but I have had my fill of salsa that is borderline tomato salsa. I want to taste the peppers and cilantro. I want it to sing in my mouth. And I want housemade chips. But I digress. Here you have the best of both. You also receive a complimentary sample sized bowl of fideo soup. Don't be afraid to just pick it up to finish off the last few spoonfuls. It's too good to waste. I found myself with burrito on the mind and ordered one with steak and black beans. The presentation alone had my appetite revved up. The beauty of the shell was all I needed to know. I was in for a culinary delight. The rice and beans, cooked perfectly. If you've ever had them not cooked perfectly, you know why this is such an important aspect. Especially with beans. Undercook and they are too firm. Overcook and they are mush. The steak flavor and texture was on point and I will add that you need to like cilantro for this dish. It isn't overpowering, but it is fresh and at the forefront. You will not be able to ignore it. There is so much more for me to try, but one visit at a time. And in case you didn't know, they now have a second location on Boy Scout Road. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I will be there soon! ”
“ Tried this place after it was recommended by a friend. The location looked a lot nicer on the inside than some of the more hole-in-the-wall taco spots I normally frequent. Chips and salsa were also complementary, which was something else I did not expect. I ordered lengua tacos and tinga chicken tacos. Lengua tacos 3.5/5: The tacos had tortillas that seemed to have been dipped in grease or cooked on an oiled pan for a bit. I do appreciate when street tacos have tortillas dipped in the oil from the meats but these were a bit on the soggier/oilier side. The lengua chunks had a nice char to them and scratch the itch if you're craving lengua tacos. They were slightly chewier than some other places I've had but not bad overall. Tinga Tacos 3.5/5: These tacos had some shredded chipotle chicken meat inside them. The meat was stringy similar to pulled pork and not very tender, but there was a decent amount of the chipotle marinade making it more moist than normal shredded chicken. The tacos were alright and at $3 per taco it is an acceptable price. The service stood out to me, as the waiter was very attentive, and when my friend was given one incorrect taco, they threw in the extra correct taco at no added cost/fuss. Lastly, this place also gets curved up because free chips and salsa which is always a plus in my book. Overall a much more presentable, cleaner taco spot than others I've been to while having options for some tex-mex items and margheritas. ”
“ Great customer service. Excellent food. I hope that they eventually open other locations in the CSRA. They have a very large menu that offers a large variety Mexican dishes, unlike most of the restaurants in town. I was so excited to find a restaurant offering quesabirria. The restaurant can get a little loud with the music and everyone talking, since it's a smaller establishment, but the food is so delicious and everyone, including other patrons, are so nice that you forget all about it. By far, a 10/10 restaurant for the CSRA. ”
“ DH and I went to Loko Tacos on Thursday to beat the Cinco de Mayo crowds. It's a quaint little "hole-in-the-wall" place in a strip mall, but there is so much flavor! The walls are covered in Mexican art and idioms and everything is scrupulously clean. We went at the end of a workday and arrived at a nearly empty restaurant, but that quickly changed as people streamed in. Our server was quick with the menus and drink orders. Besides the usual chips and salsa, we were brought small bowls of noodle soup (unexpected and most welcome). DH asked for a recommendation and got the Birria Tacos. I ordered the pollo La Milanesa Torta which was new to me. The bread was fresh and soft inside while being crunchy outside and the onions and jalapeño were bright spots in the generously portioned sandwich. Nothing beats the fresh flavors and authenticity of this food. DH was sold and we now have a new neighborhood haunt for take-out and dine-in. You should drop in too. ”
